For about 6 months... The Jakarta Regional Government has applied Car free day every sunday. In thay day, cars and motorcycles are not allowed to enter Jl.Sudirman to Thamrin, except for certain interchange the slow-line is provided. If you drive car there, please be reminded otherwise you'll be fined.
The prohibition is applicable to 10 am However every fourth sunday will last to 2 pm.
I've been enjoyed it for at least 6 times (6 sundays) my hubby even more than that. Jakarta in that sunday turns out to be cleaner and fresher.
Everybody has their own things to do...some riding a bike...from the most updated to Onthel type, some go shoe-sliding, futsal, badminton, jogging....even running...and there's a even a bunch of people dancing ..... so beside doing some sports...some intend to see and others intend to be seen.
There are always activities there...mostly at the fourth sunday. If you're lucky you'll even find some performers like band showing .... Who are popular for Jakartanians even Indonesians. Even there's fast food restaurant offering discounts on that day only...
one Indonesian proverb says "sambil menyelam minum air" .... Beside doing some sport ...u'll also find something interesting there to be seen. So what's u waiting for? Put on your shoes, Pack your bag, pack your bicycle, hop in, and ..... C...u..... There !
Beside Sudirman-Thamrin route.....there's another sport places in Jakarta where you can see and be seen.....
Universitas Indonesia in Depok....seeing some fresh teenage looks (hemmm) and be seen...and of course Ragunan zoo...seeing some of our relatives :-p and be seen by them...hehehe
